A woman, identified as Jessie, 35, was evicted from her hospital bed at Northampton General Hospital after spending 18 months, or 550 days, on the ward . She was initially admitted for treatment of cellulitis, a condition that typically requires a temporary stay. However, due to difficulties in finding suitable care arrangements, Jessie remained on the ward for an extended period.

Jessie's case highlights the pressures on the care system, with nearly 13,000 hospital beds in England occupied by patients without medical needs. The NHS has taken legal action against only a few patients in similar situations since 2006.

After her eviction, Jessie was arrested and moved to a care home, which reportedly brings back painful memories.  The circumstances surrounding her eviction and subsequent arrest are unclear, but they raise concerns about the treatment of vulnerable individuals in the care system.
