Unizik expels student for assaulting lecturer over tiktok video

Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) has expelled a student, Goddy-Mbakwe Chimamaka Precious, for physically assaulting a lecturer, Dr. Chukwudi Okoye, from the Department of Theatre and Film Studies. The incident occurred when Dr. Okoye interrupted a TikTok video Precious was recording on campus, leading to a confrontation that sparked public outrage. 


The university's decision was conveyed in an expulsion letter dated February 13, 2025, signed by the Acting Registrar, Mr. Victor I. Modebelu. The Student Disciplinary Committee found Precious guilty of gross misconduct under the institution's disciplinary regulations, specifically Regulation 4 (SDR). 


As a result, Precious has been ordered to vacate the premises and return any university property in her possession. This move reinforces the university's commitment to upholding discipline and maintaining order within its academic community.
