Two Catholic nuns, Vincentia Nwankwo and Grace Okoli, were kidnapped by gunmen along Ufuma Road in Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State on Tuesday. The nuns were on their way back from a vocational association meeting at Ogboji community when they were abducted.

The police have launched a joint operation to rescue the kidnapped nuns, with the Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Itam, visiting the scene for a spot assessment. The police are working with some clues to arrest the suspects and rescue the victims.

The Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Mother of Christ, have urged all priests, religious, and lay faithful to offer fervent prayers and supplications to God for the unconditional release of the sisters.

The incident has sparked concern and the police are doing everything possible to ensure the safe return of the kidnapped nuns.
