Tourist killed in shark attack in Egypt's Red Sea resort

A tragic incident occurred at the popular Red Sea holiday resort of Marsa Alam in Egypt, where a 48-year-old tourist was killed in a shark attack, and another was injured. The Egyptian Environment Ministry confirmed the incident, stating that both victims are foreigners, although their nationalities were not disclosed.

The attack has prompted authorities to close the area and prohibit swimming for two days, starting Monday. An urgent committee will be formed to investigate the incident. The ministry is working closely with the Red Sea Governorate and concerned authorities to address the situation swiftly and effectively.

Unfortunately, this isn't the first shark attack incident in the area. A similar incident occurred in June 2023, when a tiger shark killed a Russian national in Hurghada, another coastal city on the Red Sea.
