The Indian government has ordered the removal of several VPN apps, including Cloudflare's 1.1.1.1, from Apple App Store and Google Play Store. This move is aimed at enforcing India's 2022 VPN regulations, which require VPN providers to store user data for at least five years.

The affected VPNs include:

- Cloudflare's 1.1.1.1: A popular VPN service known for its speed and security.
- PrivadoVPN: A VPN provider that offers a free plan and strong encryption.
- Hide.me: A VPN service that emphasizes user privacy and security.

The Indian government's regulations require VPN providers to collect and store user data, including names, addresses, IP addresses, and transaction histories. This has raised concerns among VPN providers and users about privacy and censorship.

Several major VPN providers, such as NordVPN, ExpressVPN, and Surfshark, had already removed their servers from India in response to the regulations. However, they continue to offer services to Indian users through virtual servers.
