Nigeria's Super Eagles B made a stunning comeback to the African Nations Championship (CHAN) scene by defeating Ghana's Black Galaxies 3-1 in the CHAN qualifier. This victory marks the end of a six-year drought for Nigeria in the tournament.

The match, held at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, saw the Super Eagles B dominate the first half with three impressive goals. Ismail Sodiq scored the opening goal, assisted by Nduka Junior, followed by a second from Nduka, and then Saviour of Rangers extended the lead before halftime.

Although Ghana managed to pull one back in the second half, Nigeria's early lead proved insurmountable. This win is significant, as Ghana had previously thwarted Nigeria's attempts to qualify for the CHAN in 2009 and 2023, as well as the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

The Super Eagles B's victory not only ends their six-year CHAN hoodoo but also provides a platform for showcasing local talent on an international stage. Nigeria will now participate in the CHAN tournament, set to take place in Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda from February 1-28, 2025.
