The Nigeria Defence Headquarters has dismissed a viral video claiming that France is establishing a military base in Northern Nigeria. The video, which sparked widespread concern, allegedly showed French soldiers arriving in Borno State. However, the Defence Headquarters described the information as "fake, totally false, and mischievous".

According to fact-checking website FactCheckHub, the video was misleading and actually showed a donation ceremony where the UK government handed over advanced Counter-Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) to Nigeria's Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) Theatre Command.

The Defence Headquarters urged the public to disregard the reports, stating that the military will continue to carry out its constitutional responsibilities professionally and ensure the territorial integrity of the nation.
