Liverpool manager Arne Slot says right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold will miss the second leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final against Tottenham on Thursday.
Liverpool, England - Liverpool manager Arne Slot has confirmed that star right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold will miss the second leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final against Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday.
Alexander-Arnold suffered a leg injury during Liverpool's 2-0 win over Bournemouth and was forced to leave the pitch. Although initial fears suggested a more severe injury, scans have revealed that the damage is not as extensive as initially thought.
Despite the relatively positive diagnosis, Alexander-Arnold will not be fit in time for the crucial Carabao Cup tie against Tottenham. Liverpool trails 1-0 from the first leg and will be looking to overturn the deficit without one of their key players.
"Trent is a big miss for us, but we have a strong squad and we're confident that we can still get the job done," Slot said in a press conference. "Conor Bradley and Joe Gomez are both options to fill in at right-back, and we'll make a decision on who starts closer to the game."
Liverpool's injury woes have been well-documented this season, with several key players spending time on the sidelines. However, the Reds have shown resilience and depth, and they'll be looking to call upon those qualities once again as they bid to reach the Carabao Cup final.
The second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final between Liverpool and Tottenham kicks off at 7:45 PM GMT on Thursday.
