In a bid to support students preparing for the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) and National Examination Council (NECO), the Lagos State Government has launched an innovative initiative to air 320 school lessons on Lagos Television and various social media platforms.

The initiative, known as the Eko Learners Support Programme, was launched on January 14 by the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Jamiu Alli-Balogun, and features lessons facilitated by 30 rigorously screened teachers. The lessons will cover 10 subjects, including English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Economics, Government, History, Literature-in-English, and Yoruba.

According to the Commissioner, the initiative is designed to provide additional support to students in the state, particularly those in public schools, to help them excel in their public examinations. "We are committed to ensuring that our students have access to quality education, and this initiative is a testament to that commitment," he said.

The lessons will be aired on Lagos Television and will also be available on various social media platforms, including YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and X (formerly Twitter). Students can access the lessons at their convenience, and the interactive format will allow them to pause, revisit content, ask questions, and receive answers.

The pilot project will run for 26 weeks, and the government has assured that it will be monitored and evaluated to ensure its effectiveness. The initiative is a collaborative effort between the Lagos State Government, the Lagos State Ministry of Education, and other stakeholders in the education sector.

This initiative is a welcome development for students in Lagos State, who will now have access to additional learning resources to support their academic performance. The use of technology to deliver the lessons will also help to reach a wider audience and provide equal access to education for all students, regardless of their location or socio-economic background.
