Beiersdorf Nigeria, makers of the globally renowned skincare brand NIVEA, has reaffirmed its commitment to corporate social responsibility by donating N16,456,500 to The Dorcas Cancer Foundation.
The donation is part of Beiersdorf’s “Care Beyond Skin” initiative, supporting paediatric cancer survivors in Nigeria.
The funds were raised through an innovative in-store activation campaign held across five major retail chains between September and November 2024.
For every NIVEA product sold during this period, N300 was set aside to support the foundation’s mission.
As part of its collaboration with The Dorcas Cancer Foundation, Beiersdorf launched a Back-to-School fund aimed at assisting paediatric cancer survivors in resuming their education.
The initiative will cover tuition fees, uniforms, books, and other essentials for 15 children over three academic terms, ensuring they can continue their education despite the financial strain caused by their medical treatments.
Country Manager of Beiersdorf Nigeria, Oladele Adeyole, emphasised the company’s commitment to being a positive force for good :
We care for people’s skin, but beyond that, we care deeply for the communities where we operate.
Many children miss school during their cancer treatment and struggle to return due to the financial strain on their families. This partnership with The Dorcas Cancer Foundation aims to alleviate that burden, ensuring that young survivors have a chance to rebuild their lives.”
Adeyole also praised Beiersdorf’s trade partners, including Justrite, Shoprite, Market Square, Next Cash & Carry, and Hyper City, for their unwavering support in making this initiative a success.
He noted that the collaboration has been impactful, enabling Beiersdorf to extend its social mission beyond products to create tangible change in the lives of underprivileged families.
Adeyole added, “This partnership is more than just a financial contribution. It reflects our shared vision of increasing the survival rate of children with cancer in Nigeria and ensuring they have access to quality education and support. We are proud of what we’ve achieved together and look forward to expanding this mission.”
A paediatric oncologist and founder of The Dorcas Cancer Foundation, Dr Adedayo Joseph, expressed heartfelt gratitude to Beiersdorf for their support, saying, “Thank you for seeing our vision and choosing to invest in it. This donation is a monumental gift to the families we support. It provides hope and tangible relief to children whose education and lives have been disrupted by cancer.”
