Governor Otti Signs Abia State's N750 Billion 2025 Budget Into Law

Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has signed the 2025 budget of N750 billion into law. This budget, tagged "Budget of Sustained Momentum," allocates 82% (N611.7 billion) to capital expenditures and 18% (N138.6 billion) to recurrent expenditures.

Key highlights of the budget include:

- Infrastructure Development: N55 billion allocated for various road projects across the 17 local government areas, with a focus on constructing 170 kilometers of rural roads.²
- Agro-Industrial Processing Zones: N13 billion earmarked for setting up zones in three local government areas - Bende, Ukwa, and Umunneochi.
- Water Scheme: N4 billion budgeted for revamping and reticulating the 47km pipeline for the Umuahia Regional Water Scheme.
- Health and Education: 35% of the budget allocated to these sectors, with 15% for health and 20% for education.
