FG Investigate Military Airstrike in Sokoto, Says Defence Minister

A military airstrike in Sokoto, Nigeria, has resulted in the loss of at least 10 lives, with many more livestock killed. The airstrike, which occurred in Gidan Bisa village of Silame Local Government Area, was intended to target bandits in the region, but mistakenly hit innocent civilians.
The Chief of Defense Staff, General Christopher Musa, has acknowledged the incident, stating that the military followed up on intelligence and executed the airstrike carefully. However, he admitted that mistakes may have occurred and pledged to investigate the incident.
The Sokoto State government has also confirmed the incident and expressed condolences to the families of the victims. Governor Ahmed Aliyu described the incident as "unfortunate" and an "act destined to happen by the Almighty Allah".
The government has announced a donation of N20 million and 100 bags of assorted foodstuffs to the families of the deceased, as well as covering the medical bills of those injured in the airstrike.
The incident has raised concerns about the military's tactics and the need for greater accountability. The Defence Minister has promised an investigation into the incident, which is expected to shed more light on the circumstances surrounding the airstrike.
