The Federal Government's promise to crash food prices within 180 days has fallen flat, leaving Nigerians disappointed and frustrated. Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Abubakar Kyari, had assured citizens that strategic measures would be implemented to combat high food prices.

These measures included suspending duties, tariffs, and taxes on food items like maize, husked brown rice, wheat, and cowpeas. The government also planned to import 250,000 metric tonnes of wheat and 250,000 metric tonnes of maize to supply small-scale processors and millers across the country.

However, 180 days later, food prices continue to soar, with a 50kg bag of rice now selling for over N100,000, up from N85,000 when Kyari made the promise. The government's failure to deliver on its promise has sparked widespread criticism, with many Nigerians expressing their disappointment and distrust of the government's assurances.
