CYBERCRIME: Police Foil N1.097 Billion Heist, Arrest Hackers

Enugu, Nigeria - In a major breakthrough, the Nigeria Police Force has foiled a massive cybercrime operation, recovering N1.097 billion stolen from the Enugu State Government.

According to police sources, the mastermind behind the heist, Onuma Osita, was arrested after a thorough investigation. Osita, a skilled hacker, had infiltrated the state government's system, making off with the staggering sum.

The police also recovered a vast array of devices and documents, including 467 phones, 137 laptops, 46 routers, and 14 land documents. Furthermore, another suspected cybercriminal, Douglass Victor, was apprehended in connection with a syndicate involved in identity theft, business email compromise, and money laundering.

The Commissioner of Police in Enugu State, Ahmed Ammani, praised the efforts of his team, saying, "This is a significant achievement in our fight against cybercrime. We will continue to work tirelessly to protect our citizens and institutions from these types of threats."

The Enugu State Government has confirmed that the stolen funds have been recovered and returned to the state's coffers.
