Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has strongly condemned the brutal killing of 11 people by suspected Fulani herdsmen on Christmas Day in Anwase community, Kwande Local Government Area. The governor vowed to take decisive action against the perpetrators, stating, "I can assure you, the perpetrators of this act will pay dearly for it. They may think they are unknown, but they cannot continue perpetrating this. It's only a matter of time".

The attack, which occurred on December 25, left many injured and some bodies still unidentified. Community leaders and residents have reported varying numbers of casualties, with some listing up to 14 people killed.

Governor Alia's response comes amid growing concerns about the ongoing violence and insecurity in Benue State. The governor has promised to ensure that the perpetrators face the full wrath of the law, while also calling for calm and restraint among the affected communities.
