The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) has thrown its weight behind the bill seeking to establish a Polytechnics Commission in Nigeria. The union believes that the establishment of such a commission will help to address the numerous challenges facing polytechnics in the country.

According to the National President of ASUP, Anderson Ezeibe, the union has been advocating for the establishment of a Polytechnics Commission for a long time, and they are pleased that the bill has finally been presented to the National Assembly.

"We are excited that the bill has finally been presented to the National Assembly," Ezeibe said. "We believe that the establishment of a Polytechnics Commission will help to address the numerous challenges facing polytechnics in the country, including inadequate funding, poor infrastructure, and lack of standardization."

The bill, which is currently before the House of Representatives, seeks to establish a Polytechnics Commission that will be responsible for regulating and supervising polytechnics in Nigeria. The commission will also be responsible for accrediting polytechnic programs, ensuring that polytechnics meet the required standards, and providing funding for polytechnic education.

ASUP has been at the forefront of the advocacy for the establishment of a Polytechnics Commission, and the union has worked closely with the National Assembly to ensure that the bill is passed into law.

"We have been working closely with the National Assembly to ensure that the bill is passed into law," Ezeibe said. "We believe that the establishment of a Polytechnics Commission will have a positive impact on polytechnic education in Nigeria, and we are committed to seeing it through."

The establishment of a Polytechnics Commission is expected to have numerous benefits for polytechnic education in Nigeria. Some of the benefits include standardization, regulation, funding, and development.

"The commission will help to ensure that polytechnics meet the required standards, and that programs are accredited to ensure that they meet the needs of the industry," Ezeibe said. "It will also provide funding for polytechnic education, helping to address the issue of inadequate funding that has plagued polytechnics for years."

The bill has been welcomed by stakeholders in the education sector, who believe that it will help to address the challenges facing polytechnic education in Nigeria.

"This is a welcome development," said Professor Peter Okebukola, a former Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission. "The establishment of a Polytechnics Commission will help to address the challenges facing polytechnic education in Nigeria, and will provide a framework for the development of polytechnic education in the country."

The National Assembly has been urged to pass the bill into law, to ensure that the commission is established as soon as possible.

"We urge the National Assembly to pass the bill into law, to ensure that the commission is established as soon as possible," Ezeibe said. "We believe that the establishment of a Polytechnics Commission will have a positive impact on polytechnic education in Nigeria, and we are committed to seeing it through."
