2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 Claims BONKERS 0–60 Time!

Source: TodayFeedsMedia

If substantiated, the ZR1 would be the third-quickest car we’ve ever tested

Hold onto your butts: Chevy is claiming the 1,064-hp 2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 will hit 60 mph in a staggering 2.3 seconds on its way to running a 9.6-second quarter-mile at 150 mph and a top speed of 233 mph.

What’s truly impressive is these results were achieved on 93-octane pump gas and an unprepped drag strip. No race fuel juicing output, no sticky VHT improving the launch. Just launch control and steady nerves. It’s the way we test cars here at MotorTrend, because it’s the most relatable to what owners experience on the street.

It is worth noting, though, this result was achieved with the optional ZTK Performance Package, which includes a high-downforce carbon-fiber aerodynamics package and grippy Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R tires. The standard ZR1 is a tad slower, needing 2.5 seconds to hit 60 mph and 9.7 second to run the quarter-mile at 152 mph. The higher trap speed is attributed to lower drag, as the carbon aero pack creates more than 1,200 pounds of downforce plus a bit of drag.

It's also worth noting we have a pretty good track record of beating automaker performance claims, which are typically conservative. It’s possible the ZR1 will be even quicker under our instruments. Guess we’ll have to test it and see.

0–60: Rarefied Air

If substantiated, the 2.3-second ZR1 ZTK would enter into a five-way tie for third-quickest car we’ve ever tested. Along side it are the 2017 Tesla Model S P100D Ludicrous+, 2022 Ferrari SF90 Spider, 2023 Ferrari 296 GTB Assetto Fiorano, and 2021 Porsche 911 Turbo S. It’s exact position on our leaderboard would come down to decimal places.

The standard ZR1, meanwhile, would be in a seven-way tie with the 2017 Porsche 911 Turbo S, 2025 Rivian R1T Quad Motor, 2020 Lamborghini Huracan Evo, 2024 Tesla Cybertruck Foundation Series Beast, 2018 McLaren 720S, and 2019 Lamborghini Aventador SVJ for 16th-quickest.

Ahead of the Corvettes, getting to 60 mph in 2.1 seconds, are the 2021 Tesla Model S Plaid, 2021 Ferrari SF90 Stradale Assetto Fiorano, and in 2.2 seconds, the 2024 Lucid Air Sapphire, 2021 Porsche 911 Turbo S Lightweight, and 2022 Tesla Model S Plaid. That would make the ZR1 ZTK the second-quickest non-hybrid, non-electric car on our list and the third-quickest American car.

1/4-Mile: Even More Impressive

The quarter-mile number, though, is even more mind-blowing. Trapping in 9.5 seconds at 150 mph would make the ZR1 ZTK the third-fastest car we’ve ever tested, behind only the 2024 Lucid Air Sapphire and the 2021 Tesla Model S Plaid, tied with the 2022 Tesla Model S Plaid. That’s quicker than the SF90 Stradale Assetto Fiorano, 296 GTB Assetto Fiorano, and LaFerrari, the next three quickest cars through the quarter. More than that, it would make the ZR1 ZTK the quickest combustion-powered car we’ve ever tested. Even the standard ZR1 would come in fourth, tied with the LaFerrari in elapsed time but posting a higher trap speed.

Performance for the Money: Off the Charts?

Chevy still hasn’t revealed the ZR1’s price, but we’re confident it will come in well under $200,000. That’s far from affordable, but it’s also substantially cheaper than any supercar or hypercar you can think of, all of which are slower. It’s also cheaper than the quicker Lucid Air Sapphire, though the Tesla Model S Plaid should easily undercut it, currently starting under $100,000. Still, no Model S will go around a track like the ZR1, or sound like it.
