13 Dead in Bus Collision on Owo-Ikare Highway in Ondo State

A devastating bus collision occurred on the Owo-Ikare highway in Ondo State, resulting in the loss of 13 lives and leaving one person severely injured. The fatal crash happened at approximately 10:14 am on Saturday when a bus traveling from the Ikare axis experienced a tire burst, leading to a loss of control and a head-on collision with another bus loaded with fabrics coming from the Owo axis.

Eyewitnesses reported that both buses caught fire immediately after the collision. Emergency responders, including the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Police, and Fire Services, quickly arrived at the scene to provide assistance. The injured victim was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre in Owo for treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were taken to the hospital's morgue.

The FRSC sector commander, Dr. Samuel Ibitoye, urged drivers to exercise patience on the roads and maintain their vehicles properly to prevent such tragedies. He also encouraged passengers to speak out against reckless driving, emphasizing that road safety is a collective responsibility.
