A devastating incident occurred in New Orleans' French Quarter on Wednesday afternoon, leaving 10 people dead and 30 others injured. A vehicle plowed into a crowded area on Bourbon Street, with witnesses reporting that the driver intentionally sped through the dense crowd before exiting the vehicle and opening fire on pedestrians.

New Orleans Police Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick described the incident as "very intentional," stating that the driver was trying to run over as many people as possible. The FBI has taken over the investigation, with Special Agent Althea Duncan confirming that the incident is not currently classified as a terrorist attack, although improvised explosive devices were discovered at the scene.

The authorities have yet to confirm the identities of the victims, most of whom are believed to be local residents. The death toll and injury count could change as investigations progress. Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry expressed shock and sorrow, calling the incident a "horrific act of violence" and extending condolences to the victims and their families.
